This is a 1,800 sf total remodeled house by TECTONIKA which has received a brand new open interior space feeling by completely changing the layout. Most of the walls of the rooms on the first floor have been removed as well as all of the existing flat ceilings as this would not respond to the owners' modern everyday use. The front elevation has been wrapped with an architectural style chosen by the owners. They decided to have it articulated by adding gables, an entry porch with pillars and two quint balcony-dormers on the second floor. The wireless operable skylights located at the kitchen’s pitched ceiling on the first floor instantly eliminates the stagnant hot air cooperating with the green concept from the beginning.
SUSTAINABILITY
The sustainable concept has always been kept in mind in order to keep the interior temperature cool as to save energy as much as possible. This has made the design decisions lean towards installing a cold roof with the particular option of having a pitched ceiling down below so the final result is a cozy sensation inside and at the same time, a comfortable-sophisticated fluent modern-classy atmosphere. Some few existing items from the old structure have been recycled as the solid wood front door with raised panels, it got stained in dark color.
